Thomas Baker Space Systems Engineer and Technical Demonstrator, Blue Origin

Thomas Baker is a passionate founder, engineer, and industry-leading technologist who specializes in Advanced Concepts R&D, Deep Tech innovation, and early-stage investment. He has made it his lifelong mission to push the boundaries of cutting-edge technology and leverage its benefits for the greatest positive social impact. Raised in Silicon Valley and with a specialization in Electromagnetics/RF from San Jose State University, Thomas started his early career in the semiconductor industry, working in research and development for Mil/Aero Satellites and Tier 4 & 5 Self Driving Tech.

After working on the SpaceX Hyperloop initiative, where he designed and built novel magnetic levitation engines and led multidisciplinary research teams to tackle some of the challenges faced by energy-efficient high-speed transit, Thomas worked in large-scale experimental aerospace for a private technical research company under the co-founder of Google. While there, he led multiple development efforts in propulsion, avionics, structural metrology, power generation, RF communications hardware, and early-stage liquid hydrogen development.

Currently working at Blue Origin as a Space Systems Engineer and Technical Demonstrator for the Advanced Development Program (ADP), Thomas previously led Blue’s Payload Development efforts for The Orbital Reef. In 2023, he moved to Blue’s advanced concepts design, where he currently focuses on developing the future of space technology and solving inspiring challenges of the industry to come.
